3.5.11,1 Fuel supplies. - The generating plant shall be designed to perform as
specified herein when supplied with JP-4 fuel or JP-5 fuel conforming to MIL-T-5624.

3.5.11.2 Lubricants. - The generating plant shall be designed to perform aS
specified herein when components needing lubrication are lubricated in accordance
with MIL-STD-838.
3.5.12 Screw threads. - Screw threads shall conform to Handbook H28.

3.6 Operation. - The generating plant shall meet the operating requirements .
specified herein when tested in accordance with inspection methods specified in 4.6,

3.6.1 Operating cycle. - Tne plant shall be capable of continuous operation for
a 240-hour production run without deriming, except for servicing as provided in 3.6.30
3.6.2 Environmental conditions, - The generating plant shall operate under and
withstand the following environmental conditions without damage or malfunctioning.
3.6.2.1 Operating temperature. - The generating plant shall 0 perform all functions

required herein in any ambient temperature between -30 F and 125 F, including expo-
sure to solar or equivalent heat radiation of 100 to 120 watts per square foot at the
higher temperature, without shelter or other than self-contained winterization provi-
sions.
3.6.2.2 Storage temperature. - The generating plant shall not be damaged by stor-

age, in any ambient temperature from -65 F to 165° F.

encountered near bodies of salt water and in transportation on shipboard.
3.6.2.6 Salt water immersion. - The generating plant shall not be damaged
by immersion in salt water to a depth equal to the height of the tires, as could
be expected to occur during fording or when being moved through salt water during
an amphibious operation.
3.6.2.7 Rain. - The generating plant shall not be damaged or deteriorated
by operation or storage under heavy rainfall such as encountered in any locale,
including the tropics. When the housing assembly is closed for shipment or
storage, water from rain shall not penetrate to the interior of the housing.
